Lead generation for personal injury attorneys
PI lead generation is the highest-paying consumer vertical — and the most competitive. Here's how the buyer side actually works, what real prices look like, and what compliance traps to avoid.
The PI lead market in 2026
Personal injury is one of the highest-paying lead-gen verticals in the U.S. — the headline prices are dramatic ($200-$800+ per qualified intake, $2,000+ for signed cases in some torts). It's also one of the most competitive and most regulated.
Who buys PI leads
- Solo and small-firm PI attorneys (1-10 attorneys). Volume per buyer: 5-25 leads/mo.
- Mid-size PI firms (10-50 attorneys). Volume: 50-300 leads/mo.
- National PI brands (Morgan & Morgan, JG Wentworth, others). Volume: high but newcomer bar to entry is highest.
- Mass-tort lead aggregators. Spike with case events (drug litigation, product recalls).
Pricing as of 2026
- Shared form leads: $25-$75.
- Exclusive form leads: $80-$200.
- Phone-qualified intakes: $150-$500.
- Live transfer to firm intake: $250-$800. (Premium torts like 18-wheeler, wrongful death, brain injury can exceed $1,500.)
What makes a qualified PI lead
- Accident within state's statute of limitations (typically 1-3 years, varies).
- Injury occurred AND consumer received or is receiving medical treatment.
- Not already represented by another attorney for the same matter.
- Favorable liability — clear at-fault other party, or modified-comparative-negligence state where partial fault doesn't bar recovery.
Channels that work
Google Search (very high CPCs — $30-$80 in major metros), YouTube paid (trust-building, story-format ads), podcast advertising (especially host-read on local news shows), AI Search Optimization (PI consumers increasingly ask AI assistants which firm to call), and quiz-funnel landing pages ("what's your case worth?" funnels convert dramatically better than static forms).
Compliance gotchas
State bar advertising rules — every state has specific rules on attorney advertising (disclaimers, no "specialist" claims unless certified, geographic accuracy). Your buyer's compliance team must review your landing pages before launch. UPL risk — don't give legal advice in scripts. Stick to qualifying-for-the-attorney language.
